No matter how solid our physical lives may appear to be, as we learn to change the sleeping dreams, we become more skillful in changing our awakened dreams as well.

“If I could only find a way to heal my old wounds and change my bad habits!” – exclaimed a young woman at one of my classes. This young and attractive woman, let’s call her Trisha, had a childhood trauma of being sexually abused by her family. She left home when she was 17 and got involved with lovers who continued to hurt her. She was smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol excessively. But at the age of 24 she made a decision that she wanted to create a better life and was exploring her options. That’s when she first attended one of my classes in New York City. Like many people, Trisha suffered from nightmares, reliving her childhood horror in dreams.

Many people are intrigued by dream interpretations. While understanding the meaning of dreams is entertaining, it offers minimal, if any, healing benefit. I would like to talk to you about a mystical dimension of dreaming, and how you can use dream yoga to heal, overcome self-imposed limitations and achieve success in everything you do.

Dream yoga is an ancient art of using your etheric body. Etheric body, also called dream body, is a body of luminous, intelligent energy that every one of us has. Most people, however, are not aware of their etheric body and cannot use it in deliberate ways. On another hand, a skillful yogi or master of dream yoga can produce many etheric bodies that can act on their behalf simultaneously.

When we fall asleep, our dream body wakes up and we experience life through it. During sleep our conscious mind’s defenses fall away and we become more vulnerable to our subconscious fears, as well as other people’s etheric bodies. I have to mention here an important detail: while people who hurt you may no longer be in your life or even be alive, etheric bodies can stay around for a very long time. Dream yoga is a powerful mystical way to defend yourself and heal your old traumas.

I explained to my student in New York that sexual abuse, like many other abuses for that matter, has more to do with the power game than sexuality and that people who assaulted her were still attached to her energy. By intimidating her in dreams, they continued to drain her and keep her hostage. To free her energy and become whole again she needed to reclaim her power; however, it is much easier to accomplish this first in the dream plane, because dream worlds are more mutable than the physical world. Dreams are not bound by the physical limitations like time, space, order or gravity. By using dreaming we can address situations even with people who are no longer around.

I helped Trisha by using Diamond Mind Meditation and MAP (mental and psychic) reprogramming training methods. Then she practiced (Continued on Page 2)
dream yoga by awakening in her dreams and taking control of the situations in the dreams. Gradually, she was able to face the villains in her dreams and stand her ground. Eventually, I taught her detachment and she learned to change dreams at will.

As Trisha reclaimed her power, she went back to school to study journalism. Meditation and Mental Yoga continues to be an important part of her daily life. She is excited about her career choice and newly found sense of freedom.

One of the most precious gifts of dream yoga is a realization that all dimensions of life are but a dream and that we are the master-creators of our dreams. No matter how solid our physical lives appear to be, as we learn to change the sleeping dreams we become more skillful in changing the awaken dreams as well. When we stop seeing ourselves through the eyes of our villains, be they the people who hurt us in the past, monsters created by our imagination or fears of the future, they lose control over us. By letting go and standing our ground we become free to love and accept ourselves, while creating both personal and business success in our lives.

By Mila Kandibur
February 9, 2009

The crunch of the sand under my feet resonated like a mantra inside my head. The sound was occasionally joined by a buzzing bee as it tried to suck scarce juice from a desert flower. The silence around me was ringing as I briskly walked down the gorge. The California winter sun was still up, warming the hills and the crystal clear air, shining off the rocks and then disappearing into sharp shadows. A feeling of deep nostalgia filled my heart. I have been coming to this power place for over 20 years. I remember being introduced to this desert by my teacher in the early eighties. I have had countless magical experiences among these majestic hills. Since then, I have returned many times, sometimes with my students, sometimes alone. Shifting my thoughts away from memories, I inhaled the sweet desert air. I had been looking forward to this trip for several months. I didn’t want to miss the smallest sensation, sound or revelation. This is my place of dreaming and regeneration, a mystical passage of transformation.

I’ve learned respect for the desert from my teacher, who used to explain that a place of power is a vortex of energy, a doorway into another world. If you’ve done your preparation by cleaning up your life, meditating and practicing mental yoga, a power place may not only show you the way, but transport you to high spiritual dimensions where mystical transformation takes place. You can also come to a power place seeking your inner purpose. Special desert locations hold many gifts to share with those who are ready to receive them. A trip to a place of power is a lot like reincarnation, except that you do not physically die. When you allow your ego and identity to dissolve into the light, the one who comes back from the desert is a new and improved model, with an upgraded chip and a more evolved operating system.

Spotting a small area that felt especially light and welcoming, I cleared the space and sat down. The glowing outline of the distant hills basking in the deep colors of the setting sun took my breath away. I felt at peace. I remembered love. I reflected on my life prior to meeting my teacher. The old emotions and feelings felt so dead compared to the aliveness and love that I felt at this light-filled and isolated place. How is it that we get so confused into thinking that we are truly living? How do we get so disconnected from ourselves? I allowed those thoughts to be taken by the wind that came suddenly and washed through my body like an electrical current. Surrendering to the wind, I straightened my back, closed my eyes and began practicing the diamond mind meditation technique to create a state of awareness and presence within. After a short time, my mind fell silent and became flooded with light.

Not sure how much time had passed, I opened my eyes. At first I thought that it was daylight, as everything around me was sparkling and bright. But then I realized that pitch darkness had enveloped the hills. The desert night descended and the air had an icy, wintry bite to it. I looked at my watch. It was almost 9 p.m. I had meditated for almost five hours and hadn’t even noticed the passage of time. But something in me felt very different. I was healed and empowered. My body was drenched in energy and light. My mind was happy and at peace. I felt tremendous gratitude. And my spirit—I didn’t feel it at all. Within me was a deep, endless space filled with light that did not have a sense of “I.” I was erased and dissolved. It was like the whole universe was my spirit. On the drive back, I stopped by a restaurant and looked in the washroom mirror. At first, I didn’t see my reflection. I felt a jitter—did I not come back from the desert? Then I saw a glowing light shining from my face and eyes. I love the desert and the power it holds.
Back in San Diego, busy living and teaching, a part of me is always in the desert, hiking in the gorge to the crunch of the sand under my feet resonating like a mantra in my head. My heart is filled with light and love.

Transcription of a live recording of Mila Kandibur, CEO, Diamond Mind Coaching, L.L.C., San Diego, CA

See part 1 and 2 of this article for references and definition of terms.

(Continued) What is Enlightenment? There are several meanings that people attach to it. In the interest of clarity, I would like to briefly describe what I mean by Enlightenment here. Enlightenment is not simply a state of knowing, insight, power, clarity, wisdom, or sublime happiness. While it includes all of those things, Enlightenment is a direct awareness of life, without any mental modifications; it is total freedom – freedom from any structure, concept, ideology or philosophy, no matter how clever or advanced. Enlightenment is beyond the human mind’s understanding. The process of Enlightenment is not sudden but very gradual. It is not like you are not enlightened and suddenly, one day you wake up enlightened, or that any one experience, no matter how profound, makes you enlightened. It is not even a “state” that is bestowed upon you with a first experience of “Samadhi” (see part 2 of this article). Swami Prabhavananda, a distinguished disciple of an enlightened teacher Sri Ramakrishna once noted that advanced spiritual practice BEGINS with Samadhi. It does not end there… Enlightenment is endless and there are many levels of Samadhi that offer mere glimpses into the world of Enlightenment. And, while the actual experience of Samadhi is rare, full Enlightenment is even more unique in this world.

Each time you meditate and stop thought, or even just earnestly strive to stop thought, you get closer and closer to the experience of Samadhi. Here’s where a possibility of true magic opens up: every time you come back from a deep meditation, instead of retracing your steps back to the person you were prior to the meditation, allow the Najual, Power, or Samadhi to erase you as a particular individual… Now you are moving into the enlightenment process. You are gradually erasing limited ideas, understanding and experience of who you are and moving into expanded awareness, allowing the universe to flow through you and becoming more than you could ever imagine. During deep meditation, Power loosens the glue that holds your “spiritual DNA” together, while your intent for complete transformation and trust in the direction of the universe guides you to new identity and a new awareness. This new awareness is not simply a continuation and growth of who and what you were before going into your meditation, it is metamorphism and transformation in its ultimate form, similar but even more profound than the transformation occurring during the death and rebirth process; spiritual evolution that occurs at the speed of light. And every time you touch the state of Samadhi, you touch the power of the universe at its core.

So, the personal power that each one of us has is the amount of access to the overall source, the universal power. Personal power can be stored and accumulated over time. We accumulate personal power as we reincarnate, over and over and over again. Each time we come back from a deep meditation, is like being born into a new life; only our memories pull us back to the person who went into the meditation. Our self-effort in each lifetime puts us closer and closer to the source and, over time, we build a bank of personal power within a body of awareness. Power is tangible. Similar to the money that we deposit in the bank every month which gradually accumulates into a sizable fortune, our stored power accumulates into karmic patterns that open the doors for us to deeper exploration of the universe. And, just like the money in the bank that you can spend on frivolous pursuits and never get to your dream fortune, spending your power on useless mental and emotional hang ups and draining relationships will keep you continuously from attaining your total freedom, Enlightenment.

Storing and accessing personal power is a science that has been explored by all esoteric spiritual traditions, from Zen Buddhism, to Tibetan Mysticism, to Tantra, to Native American spiritual arts. (To be continued)

(Continued) In meditation, we use our mind’s “first attention” (see part 1 of this article) to narrow down our thought process through focus. Our brains think dozens of thoughts per minute. The thoughts that are constantly popping into your head create a thick screen of white noise. This screen is a mirror turned inside; it reflects you, not the world. To see beyond the screen, you need to stop the white noise. In general terms, when you focus one pointedly, you slow down your thought process, bringing your thoughts eventually down from dozens to just one. When the thoughts stop for even a short period of time, we come to the edge of existence. It is not the edge of all existence, but the limited existence that you call “ME”. To experience life directly, without any mental modifications, you need to have the courage to let go of that last focus, let go of control and self-identity and hurl yourself into the stillness, into “Najual” (see part 1 of this article). It takes a lot of courage. And, I would have to add that unless you have attained super-conscious states, called Samadhi, in your past lives times and times over, you need to work with an experienced teacher to reach those states. Samadhi is not simply an experience of light and ecstasy, it is not an experience of Najual… It IS Najual.

So, to the extent that we can truly and completely stop thought, we have an access to true power. This said, I have to clarify that we do not actually “possess” power; rather, we make ourselves available to power. One way you can tell how powerful someone is or is not, is by how long they can stop thought. If at this time you can stop thought for only a little bit of time, you have a little bit of personal power. Or more precisely, you have an access to a little bit of power. On another hand, if you have the ability to stop thought for a long period of time, you let that power to fully flow through you into your life, business, or anything that you set your mind to. The power, however, is more than just a force; it is an intelligent force. It not only gives you a boost in your endeavors, but it also provides an insight and intuition into the right direction. If you have an access to a vast flow of power, your intuition will suggest a bolder and riskier path. On another hand, if your power is low, your intuition will likely be influenced by fear, measuring your limited resource of power against the level of power of your competition or opponent. Power allows achieving all kinds of success. With a direct access to raw force and intelligence of the universe, you can accomplish a whole lot more in your life, as you pursue a path of love, not fear. However, here also lies a secret – a magical doorway that most people overlook. They get so caught up in the excitement of newly found success and flow in their lives that they miss the greatest secret, an inconspicuous doorway that leads to total freedom – Enlightenment. (To be continued)

Personal Power
(This is the first part of a three-part article, based on a recording on Personal Power by Mila Kandibur CEO of Diamond Mind Coaching, LLC in San Diego, CA)

What is power?

Power is a force of pure potentiality. The source of creation has many aspects. One of its aspects is power. It doesn’t have a quality; it doesn’t have a description, yet everything comes forth from it. Power is very difficult to talk about. Its not a thing, its not something you can put your finger on and say that this is what power is. Power is a force that acts behind the scenes, so we can only see effects of power. Just like we do not see the wind but we do see the leafs blowing and see the trees moving. Power is the force that is behind everything, it is the force but it is not something that is perceivable by the human eye or any of the five senses. We can sense power through the Sixth sense, our intuition. We might sense power in someone, as an example. But through our five senses, we can only perceive manifestations of power, not the actual force behind the scene, not that which brings the manifestations.

And this is why as long as science remains basic, i.e. dealing only with the physical dimensions and examining only the material aspects of things, it will never get to the answer of, what is power. If science would however extend beyond its self, beyond the physical world, it would start to dig into the concepts of higher mathematics, the concepts that touch upon the interesting forces that are more in line with the source of all existence and the complexities of the universe. Current science cannot define the answers within itself because it is only dealing with the physical perception, physical world, physical operation, manifestation, phenomena, etc. It doesn’t look at the force behind the curtain. It looks at the movie projection on the screen, but it doesn’t look at the actual film and the projector, where this is coming from. And maybe it is even trying to look behind the screen, but there is nothing there. This is the common approach of today’s science, examining the screen, examining all the pixels and then looking behind the screen and declaring, there is nothing there; Spirit is just a product of brain’s hallucination. While science is correct, at least most of the time, explaining the physical dimension, it completely misses a larger picture of existence.

In simplified terms: We have a physical body and with our physical body we only perceive the physical world through the five senses. We also have an energy body that surrounds the physical body, sometimes referred to as Aura. Our energy body has a degree of intuitiveness. We also have a causal body, the body of pure awareness. If we would use author Carlos Castaneda’s terminology or, to be more accurate, his teacher Don Juan’s terminology, we would say that we have a first attention and a second attention. Physical body and mind exist and operate in the first attention. The first attention is everything that we can think and feel and experience with our senses; everything that we can rationalize and understand. Even the most sophisticated concepts, as long as they can be explained, they are in the domain of the first attention. Today’s science deals only with the first attention. Even our recognition of intuition has to do with the first attention, because “recognition” is in the world of manifest. As long as we can put a label on it, as long as we can formulate it, it is the first attention. The first attention has multiple levels, however, but is still just the first attention.

Don Juan called this first attention the Tonal. The world of un-manifest, pure potentiality of things and intelligence is the domain of second attention. Don Juan called the domain on the second attention Najual, or the Spirit. Kind of like the silence before the thunder or the space of void before a thought is formed. Power is the force that crosses the dimensions and delivers between the domains. Here is where it gets a little more complicated beyond the linear explanation – Power is the Spirit and it is also an aspect of Spirit. So, the Spirit or the Najual is that part of us and the world that our first attention and physical mind can’t understand, because it’s beyond it. And, as long as we hang onto control and having to understand it with our physical mind, we will not have an access to the Najual, to the power. By hanging onto our Tonal and rational mind while trying to understand the Najual, we’re locking ourselves in the domain of the Tonal. So, in order to truly “understand” the Najual and Power, we ultimately have to let go of the Tonal. Our rational mind can prepare us, but at certain point it can’t take us any further and we need to leave the Tonal behind and take a journey. It’s like exploring a map of a country – it can give some general information about the roads, altitudes, population, etc., but to experience the country, we need to travel there in person. To “understand” and experience the Najual and Power, we need to leave the island of the Tonal and venture into the Najual. This is what we do in meditation.

I came across a deadly tendency in my meditation practice, many times throughout the years. Then I observed my students experiencing it too and decided to address it in this article. The tendency that I am talking about is a feeling of familiarity. Here is how it goes: you sit down to meditate and settle into a comfortable daze; the energy raises a little, giving a pleasant sensation; your mind starts to drift off and without realizing it, you find yourself thinking about whatever it is on your mind, daydreaming, coming up with wonderful ideas, etc. As your meditation session winds down, you promise yourself that you are going to focus and meditate really well… the next time you meditate. You get the picture.

So, here are a couple of thoughts that may help you if you find yourself in this pattern:

The feeling of familiarity: Our mind is wired to label experiences. This way, the next time it finds itself in a similar situation, it can simply access the label or pattern and doesn’t have to process the data. The mind is trying to conserve energy… but it’s only through active effort and exercise that we develop body and mind.

Why this is deadly: Labels are what stands between you and the true experience of life, people and yourself. When we experience life through labels, we are missing all the fun! To perceive life through labels is the opposite of being present, in the moment, here and now. It is the opposite of being alive! If you are experiencing familiarity, it is ONLY because you operate through the labels. While labels are convenient, they are your limitations.

Solution: As soon as something feels familiar, remember that you’re accessing a label/pattern created by your mind. This label has nothing to do with the object of your perception, be it something or someone. Just think of your favorite food or dessert – the first bite feels like heaven, but by the tenth bite we’re munching away. There is a tradition in France, to drink a gourmet coffee with cold water after each sip. The water clears the pallet, allowing us to taste the deliciousness of the next sip of coffee, fresh and anew. Think of your mind as a pallet that you clear after each bite of experience, be it meditation or life. Life doesn’t even exist outside of your perception. You connect the dots with your mind, creating the experiences… Exploring the universe without connecting the dots is meditation. Imagine yourself being a new visitor to human existence. How would you feel each sensation? How would you experience a thought or a feeling that arises when you never thought or felt it before? How would you experience each moment of meditation if it were your first? When you use this beginner’s mind approach, you will come up to the experiences and realizations that are outside of your current level of perception. But as these exciting new feelings come up, let them go and keep meditating. The further you go, the more powerful and beautiful the experience.

I wish you well on your journey!

With much love,

Mila Kandibur

PS. remember, you can learn to stop thought in your DiamondMind Meditations

Have you set goals in the past just to watch them fade from your mind in a few weeks? Most of us have. There are many internal mechanisms that operate within our mind that direct our actions. These internal processes are a result of our mental (or neural) conditioning. I will cover the neural reconditioning processes in my other articles, but today I would like to talk to you about energetic tools that are available to us in nature, Solstices and Equinoxes. We can use these tools to empower and enforce the changes that we want to make and achieve our business and personal goals.

First, here’s a little background to help understand what Solstices and Equinoxes are and why they work. As you know, there are four seasons, or cycles in nature. Solstices mark the beginning of winter and summer cycles; Equinoxes mark the equilibriums between those cycles – the beginning of autumn and spring. You can think of it as a turning wheel with the four transition points, Solstices and Equinoxes being the peaks of those transitions.

Quantum physics teaches us that everything is energy, that there are many dimensions of consciousness and that each of those dimensions has its own unique energetic modality. Most people operate within their particular energetic modality and have access to the same thoughts, feelings and experiences throughout their lives. The only way to change our experiences is through changing energetic modality.

Quantum physics also teaches that everything in the universe is interconnected. Our thoughts and feelings are waves of energy, constantly radiating into the universe. And our minds are powerful transmitters and receivers. The solar system also has a powerful impact on our thoughts and feelings through the various types of energetic waves. This is a premise of astrology. But metaphysics aside, there are energetic shifts that take place through time and space; and some of those shifts cross the dimensions. That’s where it gets interesting…

You see, the universe is set in motion and has a momentum. But its motion is complex. From time to time, it readjusts itself and goes through a transition, as it changes its cycle. The time of transition is powerful and can be viewed as chaos… or a window of opportunity. At the time of transition, the momentum is interrupted and the dimensions that are normally sealed by the motion temporarily open up. Solstices and Equinoxes are the times of the powerful cosmic transitions, when the doorways between dimensions open and we can slide through… getting recharged and making some major changes in our lives.

To take advantage of Solstices and Equinoxes: connect with nature and become aware of the universe by simply trying to feel nature. Relax and try to spend some time by yourself near the ocean, desert or in the forest. Quiet your mind through meditation. This will help you to align with the energy of time. It’s like catching a wave while surfing – let the wave of time carry you.

And just like the surfing wave, the energy of the Solstices and Equinoxes pull you as you focus on them prior to their coming and push you in the direction of your goals as they pass. Your job is to be connected to the energy of time and be clear about your goals; align your inner intent through meditation. If your intent and goals are clear, the energy of Solstices and Equinoxes will open the doorways and empower you to make the changes. The window of open dimensions is usually most felt for about four weeks – a couple of weeks prior and a couple of weeks past the day of the Equinox (or Solstice).

This year’s (2008) Autumnal Equinox falls on September 22nd. I wish you a very bright and fruitful Equinox!

Catch the wave to your success and happiness!

Wolfs Pick Out A Lone Sheep

There’s a terrible tendency among many spiritual seekers – everyone wants to do their own thing, nobody wants to “join groups”. But as nature shows us, when we are separated, it’s easy for the forces of diversity to bring us down. Wolfs pick out a lone sheep.

When you join forces with like minded individuals, the synergy that such groups create is multi-fold! This is true for both, business as well as spiritual endeavors. There’s a powerful momentum that is generated by a cohesive support network. The practical information and strategies presented in such groups is valuable; however, even more important is the energy that it offers for you to replenish your inspiration and slay the dragons on your path to success. We all have the good days… and the “other” days. And as we progress on the path for some distance, we tend to encounter more and more of those “other” days. This is due to a partial loss of the feeling of newness, as well as our karmas that come into play when we get closer to our goals. In a powerful support group, guided by an experienced teacher, you can overcome your karmic tendencies, environmental hurdles and childhood conditioning!

There’s a certain sense of brotherhood among men in our society. But as people get older, they form fewer of the deep friendship bonds. For women, the path has been even rougher – jealousy, conspiracy and competitiveness often poison the friendships, where sister can’t trust sister because they compete for men. This is the way history has shaped our world. Forget all this nonsense! Unite with other women! You can always tell if a group of beings is highly evolved or on its way up – their tendency is toward unity and mutual unconditional support. Supporting each other and pushing each other up to our success and happiness dissolves the karmic bonds.

There’s strength in unity and unconditional love. United we stand, united we dissolve – into the ultimate light of Enlightenment and success in all areas of life and business!

With much love,

What Is Diamond Mind Meditation?

By Mila Kandibur

Diamond Mind Meditation is a process of slowing down and stopping thought. When the thought stops, the world as we know it, goes away and the mind rests in peace. A state of deep meditation rejuvenates the body and mind.

Meditation is not like deep sleep

In deep sleep our mind falls into amnesia. There are no dreams, no awareness of anything. Diamond Mind Meditation is the opposite of that. It is a complete awareness of everything. Our mind has the capacity to be infinitely aware without having to think. It’s the ability that develops with the practice of meditation. Diamond Mind Meditation is a state of extreme wakefulness and presence. It’s like sitting in a dimly lit room for a while, and suddenly someone turns on the lights!

Meditation is not like hypnosis

Under hypnosis we surrender our will and allow our thought process to be guided, either by someone else or ourselves (self-hypnosis). Diamond Mind Meditation is not like that at all. Diamond Mind Meditation is a state of sublime freedom! It’s like soaring of a bird in high clouds, like snowboarding the extreme slopes, or enjoying your most favorite ice cream flavor… except that you didn’t realize that it was you most favorite flavor until you tried it. It is impossible to describe the feeling on meditation in words. But it can be experienced and it’s never the same.

Guided meditation practices, astral travel, guided relaxation, creative visualization, etc.

There’s multitude of mental practices that are loosely called “meditation”. While these practices are useful, they are not a classic form of meditation described here. In addition to Diamond Mind Meditation, guided meditation and creative visualization processes are also included in part of classes taught by Diamond Mind Coaching.

How to learn Diamond Mind Meditation

Since the process of meditation is beyond the thought, it cannot be taught through words alone. While words are used, like dance or martial arts, it’s ‘movements’ learned with a teacher. Just like the feeling of living in another country is different from examining its map or reading a book about it, no verbal description of meditation is sufficient to teach it.

Meditation is first explored in the presence of someone who meditates well. Then, as you practice it on your own, you come back to a teacher to get corrections and learn the deeper art. It’s like taking the skydiving lessons – you soar though the air hooked up in tandem with an instructor. Eventually, you’ll be able to glide effortlessly by yourself, navigating the winds and challenging yourself further and further.

Once you’ve tasted the actual experience of Diamond Mind Meditation, the books on the subject will begin to take on a new meaning; you will be able to read between the lines.

Catch the wave to your success and happiness!
